In addition to its replica of an 1862 civilian fort, Fort Belmont includes many other buildings from the early settlement era in Jackson County. It hosts a rendezvous the weekend after Labor Day as well as the Rhythm of the River music festival in July.
Established in 1945, this park protects a section of prairie grassland and oak savanna along the Des Moines River Valley. It offers opportunities for camping, wildlife viewing, canoeing, and 5 miles of trails.
